Quantifying Quantum Computational Advantage on a Processor of Ultracold Atoms

Nonequilibrium dynamics of quantum many-body systems is challenging for classical computing, providing opportunities for demonstrating practical quantum computational advantage with analogue quantum simulators. Owing to the intimate connection with a random matrix ensemble, it is proposed to be classically intractable to sample the driven thermalized many-body states of a Bose-Hubbard system, and further extract multi-point correlations from the output-strings for characterizing quantum systems. Here, leveraging dedicated precise manipulations and atom-number-resolved detection through a quantum gas microscope with bichromatic superlattices, we perform sampling of the driven Hubbard chains and two-leg ladders in the thermalized phase involving up to 64 sites with 20 atoms, yielding a Hilbert space dimension of $10^{19}$ and outpacing the most powerful supercomputer in terms of sampling rate by three orders of magnitude. The volume law scaling of the \Renyi entanglement entropy in the thermalized phase is observed, which hinders efficient classical simulation for large systems. We employ the Bayesian tests to verify that our prepared systems operate in the driven thermalized phase. Multi-point correlations of up to 14th-order extracted from the experimental samples offer clear distinctions between the thermalized and many-body-localized phases, where classical computations such as tensor network fails to give accurate and faithful predictions within a reasonable time cost. Our work demonstrates the sampling of a interacting chaotic system performed on a quantum processor of ultracold atoms and opens the door of utilizable quantum computational advantage in simulating Floquet dynamics of many-body systems.

Single-Stage Signal Attenuation Diffusion Model for Low-Light Image Enhancement and Denoising

Diffusion models excel at image restoration via probabilistic modeling of forward noise addition and reverse denoising, and their ability to handle complex noise while preserving fine details makes them well-suited for Low-Light Image Enhancement (LLIE). Mainstream diffusion based LLIE methods either adopt a two-stage pipeline or an auxiliary correction network to refine U-Net outputs, which severs the intrinsic link between enhancement and denoising and leads to suboptimal performance owing to inconsistent optimization objectives. To address these issues, we propose the Signal Attenuation Diffusion Model (SADM), a novel diffusion process that integrates the signal attenuation mechanism into the diffusion pipeline, enabling simultaneous brightness adjustment and noise suppression in a single stage. Specifically, the signal attenuation coefficient simulates the inherent signal attenuation of low-light degradation in the forward noise addition process, encoding the physical priors of low-light degradation to explicitly guide reverse denoising toward the concurrent optimization of brightness recovery and noise suppression, thereby eliminating the need for extra correction modules or staged training relied on by existing methods. We validate that our design maintains consistency with Denoising Diffusion Implicit Models(DDIM) via multi-scale pyramid sampling, balancing interpretability, restoration quality, and computational efficiency.

Gesture Recognition from body-Worn RFID under Missing Data

We explore hand-gesture recognition through the use of passive body-worn reflective tags. A data processing pipeline is proposed to address the issue of missing data. Specifically, missing information is recovered through linear and exponential interpolation and extrapolation. Furthermore, imputation and proximity-based inference are employed. We represent tags as nodes in a temporal graph, with edges formed based on correlations between received signal strength (RSS) and phase values across successive timestamps, and we train a graph-based convolutional neural network that exploits graph-based self-attention. The system outperforms state-of-the-art methods with an accuracy of 98.13% for the recognition of 21 gestures. We achieve 89.28% accuracy under leave-one-person-out cross-validation. We further investigate the contribution of various body locations on the recognition accuracy. Removing tags from the arms reduces accuracy by more than 10%, while removing the wrist tag only reduces accuracy by around 2%. Therefore, tag placements on the arms are more expressive for gesture recognition than on the wrist.

The Interspeech 2026 Audio Encoder Capability Challenge for Large Audio Language Models

This paper presents the Interspeech 2026 Audio Encoder Capability Challenge, a benchmark specifically designed to evaluate and advance the performance of pre-trained audio encoders as front-end modules for Large Audio Language Models (LALMs). While LALMs have shown remarkable understanding of complex acoustic scenes, their performance depends on the semantic richness of the underlying audio encoder representations. This challenge addresses the integration gap by providing a unified generative evaluation framework, XARES-LLM, which assesses submitted encoders across a diverse suite of downstream classification and generation tasks. By decoupling encoder development from LLM fine-tuning, the challenge establishes a standardized protocol for general-purpose audio representations that can effectively be used for the next generation of multimodal language models.

Relational graph-driven differential denoising and diffusion attention fusion for multimodal conversation emotion recognition

In real-world scenarios, audio and video signals are often subject to environmental noise and limited acquisition conditions, resulting in extracted features containing excessive noise. Furthermore, there is an imbalance in data quality and information carrying capacity between different modalities. These two issues together lead to information distortion and weight bias during the fusion phase, impairing overall recognition performance. Most existing methods neglect the impact of noisy modalities and rely on implicit weighting to model modality importance, thereby failing to explicitly account for the predominant contribution of the textual modality in emotion understanding. To address these issues, we propose a relation-aware denoising and diffusion attention fusion model for MCER. Specifically, we first design a differential Transformer that explicitly computes the differences between two attention maps, thereby enhancing temporally consistent information while suppressing time-irrelevant noise, which leads to effective denoising in both audio and video modalities. Second, we construct modality-specific and cross-modality relation subgraphs to capture speaker-dependent emotional dependencies, enabling fine-grained modeling of intra- and inter-modal relationships. Finally, we introduce a text-guided cross-modal diffusion mechanism that leverages self-attention to model intra-modal dependencies and adaptively diffuses audiovisual information into the textual stream, ensuring more robust and semantically aligned multimodal fusion.

VisioMath: Benchmarking Figure-based Mathematical Reasoning in LMMs

Large Multimodal Models have achieved remarkable progress in integrating vision and language, enabling strong performance across perception, reasoning, and domain-specific tasks. However, their capacity to reason over multiple, visually similar inputs remains insufficiently explored. Such fine-grained comparative reasoning is central to real-world tasks, especially in mathematics and education, where learners must often distinguish between nearly identical diagrams to identify correct solutions. To address this gap, we present VisioMath, a curated benchmark of 1,800 high-quality K-12 mathematics problems in which all candidate answers are diagrams with subtle visual similarities. A comprehensive evaluation of state-of-the-art LMMs, covering both leading closed-source systems and widely adopted open-source models, reveals a consistent decline in accuracy as inter-image similarity increases. Analysis indicates that the dominant failure mode stems from image-text misalignment: rather than grounding reasoning in textual cues, models often resort to shallow positional heuristics, resulting in systematic errors. We further explore three alignment-oriented strategies, spanning training-free approaches and finetuning, and achieve substantial accuracy gains. We hope that VisioMath will serve as a rigorous benchmark and catalyst for developing LMMs toward deeper diagram understanding, precise comparative reasoning, and grounded multi-image-text integration.

One-Dimensional Metallic Polymeric Nitrogen

The pressure-induced metallic states of light elements attract significant attention, because of potential applications as high-temperature superconductor and high-energy-density material, especially for hydrogen and nitrogen1-10. Several semiconducting polymeric nitrogen phases with three- or two-dimensional sp3-bonded networks were synthesized6-10, but its metallic form remains unobserved. Here, we report the synthesis of a metallic polymeric nitrogen with one-dimensional feature (1D-PN) at 130-140 GPa and above 3000 K. Synchrotron XRD and Raman spectroscopy, supported by DFT calculations, reveal that it adopts an infinite arm-chair like chain with sp2-hybridized pi-bonds. Simulations predict a superconducting transition at 21.19 K under 113 GPa, higher than that reported in high-pressure experiments for non-metallic elements. At ambient pressure, this phase acquiring an energy density of as high as 8.78 kJ/g is not only kinetically stable but also thermodynamically more stable than cubic gauche nitrogen. This multifunctional property profile positions 1D-PN as a disruptive candidate for both electronic and energetic applications.

XISM: an eXploratory and Interactive Graph Tool to Visualize and Evaluate Semantic Map Models

Semantic map models visualize systematic relations among semantic functions through graph structures and are widely used in linguistic typology. However, existing construction methods either depend on labor-intensive expert reasoning or on fully automated systems lacking expert involvement, creating a tension between scalability and interpretability. We introduce \textbf{XISM}, an interactive system that combines data-driven inference with expert knowledge. XISM generates candidate maps via a top-down procedure and allows users to iteratively refine edges in a visual interface, with real-time metric feedback. Experiments in three semantic domains and expert interviews show that XISM improves linguistic decision transparency and controllability in semantic-map construction while maintaining computational efficiency. XISM provides a collaborative approach for scalable and interpretable semantic-map building. Symmetry-breaking bifurcation of coupled topological edge states

We propose that the symmetry-breaking bifurcation of coupled topological edge states (CTESs) can be used as a general principle for achieving spontaneous symmetry breaking (SSB) in a nonlinear topological lattice. Using an optical resonator array composed of two Su-Schrieffer-Heeger (SSH) chains as an example, we find that as the nonlinearity strength increases, the symmetric CTESs undergo a supercritical bifurcation. Beyond the critical threshold, the originally stable symmetric state becomes unstable, leading to the formation of a pair of stable asymmetric states. Both sides of the symmetric CTESs exhibit sublattice polarization, while the side of the asymmetric CTESs that is predominantly occupied demonstrates stronger sublattice polarization. We further find that as interchain coupling increases, the frequency range for stable CTESs expands, while the frequency range for stable asymmetric CTESs decreases. Our work provides a universal mechanism for realizing SSB in nonlinear topological lattices.

MeDocVL: A Visual Language Model for Medical Document Understanding and Parsing

Medical document OCR is challenging due to complex layouts, domain-specific terminology, and noisy annotations, while requiring strict field-level exact matching. Existing OCR systems and general-purpose vision-language models often fail to reliably parse such documents. We propose MeDocVL, a post-trained vision-language model for query-driven medical document parsing. Our framework combines Training-driven Label Refinement to construct high-quality supervision from noisy annotations, with a Noise-aware Hybrid Post-training strategy that integrates reinforcement learning and supervised fine-tuning to achieve robust and precise extraction. Experiments on medical invoice benchmarks show that MeDocVL consistently outperforms conventional OCR systems and strong VLM baselines, achieving state-of-the-art performance under noisy supervision.

Nonlinear quadrupole topological insulators

Higher-order topological insulators (HOTIs) represent a family of topological phases that go beyond the conventional bulkboundary correspondence. d-dimensional n-th order HOTIs maintain (d - n)-dimensional gapless boundary states (in particular, zero-dimensional corner states in the case of d = n = 2). HOTIs of the Wannier type cam be extended into the nonlinear regime. Another prominent class of HOTIs, in the form of multipole insulators, was investigated only in the linear regime, due to the challenge of simultaneously achieving both negative hopping and strong nonlinearity. Here we propose the concept of nonlinear quadrupole topological insulators (NLQTIs) and report their experimental realization in an electric circuit lattice. Quench-initiated dynamics gives rise to nonlinear topological corner states and topologically trivial corner solitons, in weakly and strongly nonlinear regimes, respectively. Furthermore, we reveal the formation of two distinct types of bulk solitons, one existing in the middle finite gap under the action of weak nonlinearity, and another one found in the semi-infinite gap under strong nonlinearity. This work realizes another member of the nonlinear HOTI family, suggesting directions for exploring novel solitons across a broad range of topological insulators.

ImmCOGNITO: Identity Obfuscation in Millimeter-Wave Radar-Based Gesture Recognition for IoT Environments

Millimeter-Wave (mmWave) radar enables camera-free gesture recognition for Internet of Things (IoT) interfaces, with robustness to lighting variations and partial occlusions. However, recent studies reveal that its data can inadvertently encode biometric signatures, raising critical privacy challenges for IoT applications. In particular, we demonstrate that mmWave radar point cloud data can leak identity-related information in the absence of explicit identity labels. To address this risk, we propose {ImmCOGNITO}, a graph-based autoencoder that transforms radar gesture point clouds to preserve gesture-relevant structure while suppressing identity cues. The encoder first constructs a directed graph for each sequence using Temporal Graph KNN. Edges are defined to capture inter-frame temporal dynamics. A message-passing neural network with multi-head self-attention then aggregates local and global spatio-temporal context, and the global max-pooled feature is concatenated with the original features. The decoder then reconstructs a minimally perturbed point cloud that retains gesture discriminative attributes while achieving de-identification. Training jointly optimizes reconstruction, gesture-preservation, and de-identification objectives. Evaluations on two public datasets, PantoRad and MHomeGes, show that ImmCOGNITO substantially reduces identification accuracy while maintaining high gesture recognition performance.

Modality-Tailored Age of Information for Multimodal Data in Edge Computing Systems

As Internet of Things (IoT) systems scale and device heterogeneity grows, multimodal data have become ubiquitous. Meanwhile, evaluating the freshness of multimodal data is essential, as stale updates would delay task execution, degrade decision accuracy, and undermine safety in latency-sensitive services. However, existing freshness metrics such as Age of Information (AoI) are not suitable for multimodal data, as they do not capture modality-specific characteristics. In this paper, we propose a metric, namely, Modality-Tailored Age of Information (MAoI), to provide a unified and decision-relevant evaluation of freshness for resource management and policy optimization for multimodal data. This metric integrates modality-specific semantic and temporal characteristics, reflecting both age evolution and content importance for multimodal data in multi-access edge computing (MEC) systems. Then, the closed-form expression of the average MAoI is derived, and an MAoI minimization problem is formulated, where sampling intervals and offloading decisions are optimized with practical energy constraints. To effectively solve this problem, a Joint Sampling Offloading Optimization (JSO) algorithm is proposed to jointly optimize the sampling intervals and offloading decisions. It is a block coordinate descent-based algorithm where an optimal sampling-interval subalgorithm is used to update the sampling intervals, and an interference-aware best-response offloading subalgorithm is proposed to update the offloading decisions alternately. Finally, a comprehensive simulation is performed, confirming that the MAoI metric effectively quantifies multimodal freshness compared to traditional AoI, and the JSO algorithm significantly minimizes the average MAoI compared to state-of-the-art algorithms.

Destination Drone: A Comprehensive Analysis of Japanese Consumer Choice Behavior and Intentions for Drone Delivery Services

The potential for drone delivery services to transform logistics systems and consumer behavior has gained increasing attention. However, comprehensive empirical evidence on consumer delivery choice behavior within the context of transportation and urban air logistics remains limited, particularly in Japan. This study addresses this gap by examining Japanese consumers' preferences and behavioral intentions toward drone delivery services. Using a stated preference (SP) survey and discrete choice modeling approaches, including multinomial logit (MNL) and mixed logit (MMNL) models, the analysis evaluates how delivery cost, delivery time, drop-off location, product type, and social influence affect delivery mode choices across different demographic groups. The results indicate that although consumers express interest in drone delivery, perceived cost and concerns related to reliability continue to constrain adoption. Younger and male consumers exhibit higher preferences for drone delivery, while product type, particularly daily consumer goods and medical or healthcare items, plays a significant role in shaping preferences. Post-estimation willingness-to-pay and elasticity analyses further highlight consumers' sensitivity to delivery pricing and speed attributes. Overall, the findings provide actionable insights for logistics service providers and policymakers regarding pricing strategies, service targeting, and deployment approaches for integrating drone delivery into Japan's evolving logistics system.

PointSLAM++: Robust Dense Neural Gaussian Point Cloud-based SLAM

Real-time 3D reconstruction is crucial for robotics and augmented reality, yet current simultaneous localization and mapping(SLAM) approaches often struggle to maintain structural consistency and robust pose estimation in the presence of depth noise. This work introduces PointSLAM++, a novel RGB-D SLAM system that leverages a hierarchically constrained neural Gaussian representation to preserve structural relationships while generating Gaussian primitives for scene mapping. It also employs progressive pose optimization to mitigate depth sensor noise, significantly enhancing localization accuracy. Furthermore, it utilizes a dynamic neural representation graph that adjusts the distribution of Gaussian nodes based on local geometric complexity, enabling the map to adapt to intricate scene details in real time. This combination yields high-precision 3D mapping and photorealistic scene rendering. Experimental results show PointSLAM++ outperforms existing 3DGS-based SLAM methods in reconstruction accuracy and rendering quality, demonstrating its advantages for large-scale AR and robotics.

Deep RL Dual Sourcing Inventory Management with Supply and Capacity Risk Awareness

In this work, we study how to efficiently apply reinforcement learning (RL) for solving large-scale stochastic optimization problems by leveraging intervention models. The key of the proposed methodology is to better explore the solution space by simulating and composing the stochastic processes using pre-trained deep learning (DL) models. We demonstrate our approach on a challenging real-world application, the multi-sourcing multi-period inventory management problem in supply chain optimization. In particular, we employ deep RL models for learning and forecasting the stochastic supply chain processes under a range of assumptions. Moreover, we also introduce a constraint coordination mechanism, designed to forecast dual costs given the cross-products constraints in the inventory network. We highlight that instead of directly modeling the complex physical constraints into the RL optimization problem and solving the stochastic problem as a whole, our approach breaks down those supply chain processes into scalable and composable DL modules, leading to improved performance on large real-world datasets. We also outline open problems for future research to further investigate the efficacy of such models.

Ramp Josephson junctions of Al/Ti/Sr2RuO4: Observation of single-domain quantum oscillations and the detection of chiral edge current

The determination of how the phase of the superconducting order parameter in a superconductor varies with the spatial direction, which can be done only through the Josephson-effect-based phase-sensitive measurements, is crucial for the establishment of the precise pairing symmetry of the superconductor. So far, such measurements have been done on high-Tc cuprate superconductors but only at a couple of directions for Sr2RuO4 because of the difficulty in preparing Josephson junctions between Sr2RuO4 and an s-wave superconductor with a chosen mutual orientation. Another long-standing issue in Sr2RuO4, which was shown previously to feature a spontaneously broken time-reversal symmetry by muon spin rotation and other measurements, is that the expected presence of chiral surface currents, domains, and domain walls is yet to be explicitly shown experimentally. To address these issues, we have long sought the preparation of high-quality Josephson junctions between Sr2RuO4 and a conventional s-wave with a controllable orientation relative to symmetry axes in Sr2RuO4. We report in this article the successful fabrication of ramp Josephson junctions of Al/Ti/Sr2RuO4 on thin single crystals of Sr2RuO4 obtained by mechanical exfoliation. These junctions were found to show high-quality quantum oscillations consistent with a single-domain Josephson coupling. The normal junction resistance was found to depend extremely sensitively on the supercurrent flowing in the Sr2RuO4 crystal on which the Josephson junction was made. This finding was used in the present work to provide an estimate of the size of the chiral surface current, which is shown to agree with its upper bound established previously.

SymDrive: Realistic and Controllable Driving Simulator via Symmetric Auto-regressive Online Restoration

High-fidelity and controllable 3D simulation is essential for addressing the long-tail data scarcity in Autonomous Driving (AD), yet existing methods struggle to simultaneously achieve photorealistic rendering and interactive traffic editing. Current approaches often falter in large-angle novel view synthesis and suffer from geometric or lighting artifacts during asset manipulation. To address these challenges, we propose SymDrive, a unified diffusion-based framework capable of joint high-quality rendering and scene editing. We introduce a Symmetric Auto-regressive Online Restoration paradigm, which constructs paired symmetric views to recover fine-grained details via a ground-truth-guided dual-view formulation and utilizes an auto-regressive strategy for consistent lateral view generation. Furthermore, we leverage this restoration capability to enable a training-free harmonization mechanism, treating vehicle insertion as context-aware inpainting to ensure seamless lighting and shadow consistency. Extensive experiments demonstrate that SymDrive achieves state-of-the-art performance in both novel-view enhancement and realistic 3D vehicle insertion.
